Clam Shell Bowl in Copper Ruby, Iris Gold Crackle
This is a piece of hand blown glass by Ron Mynatt. The art of glass blowing is over 2000 years old. The techniques and styles of tools used today have remained unchanged for centuries.
Molten glass is used at a temperature of approximately 2300 degrees and gathered on the end of a blowpipe. An initial bubble is blown, and from there each original piece of glass is formed and takes on a shape of its own.
